How the Operation Riptide Case drops and opens
Valve retired Operation Riptide Case, first sold Sep 8, 2021, from the weekly rotation, leaving only the sharply reduced rare-pool drop, so what trades today is mostly circulating old supply — currently from $6.70 across 23 marketplaces. History says such cases gain value as the float of copies dries up; the drop-pool registry dates every change. Drop-pool registry →
Since 2019 keys sell only in the in-game store ($2.49, no resale), and a marketplace copy of the case usually undercuts the value of waiting for a drop. Each opening returns $3.86 on average against its $9.70 price tag, or 40% pre-fees. Direct purchase wins whenever a specific skin is the goal; use the tiles above for prices.
