At $2,050 it slots into CT force-buys and second-round economies, and its toggleable burst-fire mode (default B) makes it a high-accuracy option for holding angles. Because it is a CT-only weapon, it never appears on the Terrorist side, so its skins compete only with the Galil AR conceptually rather than directly.
Most FAMAS finishes are inexpensive, since it is not a primary AWP/AK-tier showcase weapon, which keeps even Covert designs affordable compared to rifle headliners. Value on the FAMAS is driven almost entirely by the finish's popularity and condition rather than by patterns or rare seeds, with a handful of clean, recognizable skins carrying most of the demand.

Role and why people skin the FAMAS
The FAMAS fires in either full-auto or 3-round burst, switched with the burst-fire key, and carries a 25-round magazine. It is cheaper than the M4A4 and M4A1-S, so it is the standard pick when CTs can't afford a full M4 buy but want more than an SMG. Unlike the AK-47 Case Hardened or paint-seed-sensitive skins, the FAMAS has no famous 'blue gem' pattern chase — value tracks finish demand and exterior. The most popular finishes (Roll Cage, Mecha Industries) command a premium simply because more players want them, while obscure finishes stay cheap. StatTrak versions add a multiplier on the popular skins and are far thinner in supply. Across all FAMAS skins, prices remain modest relative to AK/M4/AWP finishes.
Float and exterior behaviour
FAMAS finishes follow standard CS2 wear ranges, so the visible difference between Factory New and Battle-Scarred is most obvious on light or solid-color skins (Mecha Industries, Commemoration) and least obvious on already-grungy designs (Pulse). Because the FAMAS body has large flat panels, scratching from wear shows up clearly on the receiver and stock.
